The ARTS2 uses integrated acceleration to determine apogee, thus it not 
susceptible to pressure spikes associated with mach transitions.  In 
other words, there is no "mach delay" and with the ARTS you don't need one.

You should be able to communicate with your ARTS even before flying it.  
Follow the directions for connecting the ARTS and powering it up 
carefully.  Are you getting any error messages? 

My best advice for new ARTS users is to follow the instructions 
carefully, don't make any assumptions about how the ARTS works based on 
experience with other altimeters, and finally ask questions here.
