Hi David,
Congratulations on buying one of the finest flight computers on the market. As you use and become more familiar with the unit you'll be assured you're money was well spent. I am so completely confident with mine that it has become the first choice for every high performance flight I do.
My altimeter came with factory settings on profile one that I still use for simple dual deployment operations. The drogue charge is set to go off at apogee and the main is set to either 800' or 1,000'. I don't remember which but it works fine for me.
You don't have to worry about setting a mach delay because the unit doesn't utilize one. It handles the mach transition without it and works well. I've had my unit to mach 2 several times and other flyers have gone much faster without any issues.
As far as the lack of connectivity, most likely you will have to make sure the program is set to the same com port as the computer is recognizing your unit on. If the computer is able to "see" the unit on com 2 and the program is set to com 1 then you won't connect. You may have to go into the .inf settings and change the com port the program is set to recognize.
To find out which com port your computer is seeing the unit on you will have to go into the Windows "Device Manager" and look at which com port your unit is on and then set your program to match.
To prevent new user blues - Make sure you connect and power up your unit in the PRECISE order set out in the manual or after your flight you will lose your saved data.
Good Luck with your flight, it's gonna be a thrill.

Hi,
I just bought a new ARTS2. For my first flight, would you recommend changing the altimeter settings or go with the factory-configured flight profile? Also, where is the mach delay? I'm flying a 3" carbon minimum diameter on a M1315, and setting the mach delay would be pretty important! Also, will the unit only transfer data via the data transfer after a flight? I had trouble connecting the unit to my computer - my computer wouldn't read the unit. I checked and rechecked my connections, but no luck.
If you have any first-time user advise, please pass along.
Thanks,
David Angel
