[ARTS] Can't get ARTS2 to Communicate with DataAnalyzer

I completed a little more testing using HyperTerminal. I followed some
directions Erik gave me to confirm whether or not my ARTS2 is able to
communicate over the serial port. We were able to confirm that the PC
is receiving data downstream from the ARTS2, but that the ARTS2 is not
getting any data upstream from the PC. So comms can't be established.
Apparently my ARTS2 is defective. Erik is replacing it. In case anyone
else wants to use Hyperterminal to test their ARTS2, here are Erik's
instructions:
"One other idea is to use HyperTerminal to communicate with the ARTS.
Set it up for 38k8 n81, plug in and power up the ARTS. Upon power up you
will see, each time it beeps, a > character being sent to the PC.
DataAnalyzer looks for this character and responds with a CR. When the
ARTS receives this CR, then it stops beeping and awaits a command from
DataAnalyzer. At this point try typing a lowercase z. It should trigger
the buzzer test. This will at least let you know if the ARTS can
communicate with the PC, and is a good way to test comm in both
directions."
BTW, if you try this, don't think it is strange if at first you don't
see anything happening when you try to type things into HyperTerminal.
If you want to be able to see your characters, you have to go into the
options and enable "echo characters locally".
